Hey guys, running a Translator in my 87 GN. I've noticed that at idle once it's fully warmed up, the millivolts show about 780-800 at idle. But once I tip in the throttle and start moving it seems to lean out to where it should be at idle. TPS shows .48 on the Scanmaster, and everything looks good except IAC is 00 at idle out of gear. What could be the problem here? I've tried leaning out the idle but it doesn't do much. At first start up it runs where it should, but once I take it around the block and it's fully warmed up, it's way too rich at idle (in and out of gear).

This may be a stretch, but try lower the TPS at idle to about .46mv.

.48 mv is just on the edge of idle/off-idle and the ecm may be toggling between the two in an attempt to fuel.

At the same time, get the IAC counts to be 20-40. 00 indidates that the ECM is trying really hard to open the IAC to let more air in but has run out of control room. likely the set screw on the throttle may need to be adjusted.

While it may not solve the problem, it would be a good place to start.

get your iac to 20 or so in park then get your tps to .42 key off then when you start it the tps will be .44 always do the iac first because it will change your tps when moved. also 780 to 800 isnt all that bad at idle. where is you fuel pressure at line off? also you can lean out your idle with the translator for base maf setting where is you blms at idle fully warmed?

You cannot look at O2 voltage at idle, what is the BLM? that is what matters. Have you tried the 10% lean idle setting?
Mike

I have it leaned out 10% at idle with the Translator. I thought the idle was supposed to fluctuate from 200-700 or so, because ~ 550 is about where it should be adjusting richer and leaner to compensate for? Mine stays rock solid at 780-800 the whole time it's idling in neutral or in gear. Once I tap the gas and start moving it leans out to 100-300 while light accelerating, almost like it should be when at an idle.

The BLM at idle is 144

if you got turbo tweaks chip it is supposed to idle a steady number then jump around when giving gas. i think its called a closed loop

I agree. Dial in IAC, adjust TPS, and check fuel pressure. O yeah, first make sure that you don't have a vacuum leak. That can also account for the low IAC numbers and high Block Learn numbers. If my memory serves me correct 128 is where you want to be. Dave
