I recently installed a RJC boost controller and after fixing a number of other problems I finally got a chance to drive it and test it out and fine tune it if need be, well it seems it takes FOREVER for my TE44 to spool, it used to have a little lag and then just slam you in the back of the head, now it builds slowly and doesnt have that snap anymore. Something wrong with the controller? I thought it was supposed to improve spooling.

I also put in a RJC boost controller last week and If I floor it off the line the boost comes up then it starts to pull then stops for a second and then pulls real hard. If I am moving when I hit the gas it just comes right up. When I was working on giving it more boost on the highway If I tried to run more than 17PSI it would give the power then loose it then come on and stay on it is very strange. It almost seams that it can only handle about 16 to 17 PSI. I am not sure why? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks
Jack

My guess is yalls Waste Gate rods are set too loose... I had my WG set too tight and had a TON of boost creep.

Try this and see what happens: turn the controller until it is ALL the way out, I would make sure you still have 1 thread though. Then go for a ride and see what your boost setting is. THEN adjust your waste gate so that your boost comes up to 14-15lbs. This will be you lowest setting from now on. Then turn your boost up on the RJC controller to where you would like it.

For me it takes a while to build boost at the line, but honestly Im not sure how fast it is even supposed to build boost. On the street it seems to be a bit faster than before, but it comes in at a lower Rpm. To me it doesnt feel that much different, but I was tired of pulling on the waste gate all the time.

I got a chance to work on the car today. I first tried your advice and that did help. I still had a small dead spot. I them put in more fuel in the chip and put my fuel pressure up to 44PSI and that made a big difference. My only problem now is traction. Once the boost comes on it spins the tires well into 2nd Gear. Thats the way it should be.

Thanks for the idea

Jack

I had installed this one also on my car and now I removed it , hard to control over 20 PSI , hits hard no question , if yours does not ....something wrong ....but ....at the dyno it showed like 40 HP extra when you jump on it but then it was like others said , kind of backed off and came back but not as much as when you first jump on it .....anyway ..I did not like it , took it off .

Hmmm, I'm still having exactely the same problem, very slow spool from a dead stop, then starts to pull, dies back and then takes off like all hell. I was going to buy a mechanical boost control to solve this?? Is there any tricks that can be used with the stock controller? Thanks, Ron

your spool up will : improve with ...#1 .. NONE or high flow Cat Converter , then good downpipe , turbo !!! TE44 very slow with CAT , G 6152 ..big change ...and the last is make sure the air filter is clean /also I have seen big change with BIGGER MAF sensors like 85mm with MAF translator over stock !!!

Well I need to update my sig, I now have a GBodyparts 3in DP w/ dump, FTS 2.75in catback. I havent tried any fixes yet since its so cold out right now but if a nice day comes along I will have to try some test and tuning.
