When a number is displayed on my laptop through Direct Scan, is that the number that the ECM interprets?

For example. If my MAF readings are steady at 15gps, and the car misses but the MAF readings still stay steady and dont change (no spikes or drop outs), can I rule out the MAF sensor as being the problem? Same with the TPS sensor. The readings stay perfectly steady during the miss. Or does the computer not display on Direct Scan the values that it actually uses?

I am going to swap the MAF out for another one just to make sure it isnt the problem causing my miss.

yer maf reading should be around 5-7 gps, warmed up and at idle.

i would check to see if your TPS and IAC is set properly
tps should be around .42 in idle
and the IAC should be between 10-20 warmed up and in gear at idle

if they arent set properly it will idle higher and probli raise your MAf readings up

just my .02 :D

do a search on this forum. and u will find the setting procedures for the iac and tps

Direct Scan is reading what the ECM is using for values. When a chip locks BLM to 128, DS picks this up so it is reading what the ECM is using not the actual signal coming in. There may be a chance that the ECM gets something that DS does not display if it happens in between the capture points. At 18 fps you would think you would pick it up sometime, but I am not sure how many cycles the ECM runs per second to determine what rate of capture you getting at 18 fps.
