I got kind of a silly question to ask: where is the best place you've found to set the scanmaster? Under the radio, or up above on the dash? Do ya usually use double faced tape or what? Just curious

mine is on top of the radio pod....am moving it to top of the speedo cluster for a better view. i have seen covers/sun shades for them, the web site is sweet also, i just got my computer back up so i dont have the link, i'll look fer it thou

I use Industrial Strength Velcro and a BuickGN.com Scanmaster Shade.

It looks nice, and I can remove it and turn it around if I need to see it from the engine (TPS, IAC, etc.).

All of Mark's products are excellent, you really can't go wrong.

I tried on top of the radio pod but moved it to the top left of the dash. I just couldn't keep a eye on the SM going down the strip when it was on the radio pod. I used velcor to hold it to the dash.

Having just gone through this, the top of the radio pod, with Velcro:

1. Virtually flat mounting surface.
2. Mounting surface is cooler - Velcro adhesive stays cooler, SM stays cooler - case, wiring don't fade or get brittle.
3. Easily viewed, yet not obtrusive.
4. No sunshade needed.
5. Doesn't look like a radar detector. RD's are illegal in some states, provinces. RD's are cop magnets.
6. Attracts fewer would be thieves.
7. For street use, you don't need to look at the SM on every blast. If your tune-up is that close to the ragged edge you're probably asking for it.

BTW, Velcro makes a new, special product for vinyl, with a vinyl based adhesive. Finally, something that sticks to dashboards. Far superior to their "industial strength", acrylic based adhesive product.
