guys, have done the seaches but still unclear, if I go the radio shack cig lighter route for my power and ground, is there a fuse problem? I dont want to fry this thing, I just got it. Also, I do not want to hardwire the serial data wire, directions say use a blade spade connector. well i have spade connectors, but have never heard of a "blade" spade connector? What are you using to connect to the aldl? are you going in the back? Isn't that a male pronge in the aldl, how is a spade connector supposed to work with that? thanks

The cig. lighter is fused. I just went to Wal-Mart and got some piggy back connectors (blue ones are the correct gauge, I think)these are the ones that let you splice the SM wires onto the existing ones, I think I went off the radio power and ground and spliced it to the back of the ALDL as it was right there, and mounted the SM on the radio pod. Radio Shack should have a tap for the pin connector, you might have to customize it a bit though HTH:)

Just installed mine yesterday . . .
The 1/8" spade bit is a male connector that will fit into the front of the ALDL port. Having said that, I had to file mine down a bit to fit into the slot ok. It installs into the front of the ALDL port, top row, second from the left.
As far as the cigarette lighter goes, it is fused so there should be no problem. Just remember to turn off your scanmaster when you park the car or you'll kill the battery.

it is in , thanks guys, went the lighter route and went into front of aldl with a modified spade connector....thanks again.
