Hi Guys,
I would like to find out if any of you have tried these Head Gaskets with the Wire lock on the Heads.
I have tried from GM to #1007's and the Cometics. And I am not satisfied with doing no more than 10-15 passes @ 26 lbs of boost. And the 02 Volts in the 800's.
My next step is trying the Wire Lock on the Heads, but I am debateing whether I will use the OE Gaskets or the SCE Copper.
Any feedback will greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Joe, what are you using for fasteners? What torque method? If your using up your gaskets in 15 runs, you have other issues beside gasket type. How much boost are you running? fueling looks good w/ those O2 #'s.Are your mating surfaces absolutley clean and flat? Are you running aluminum heads? Brian

02 volts is not a reliable way to measure your engine performance(particularly at boost levels above about 20)......as mentioned, either the heads/block aren't flat, torque/attachment is wrong, or you are lifting the heads with detonation

copper gasket will just cause you to lose something more expensive

get an egt, WB 02, FAST or something that will tell you what is happening

Thanks guys..
As for Heads, I use Irons Heads with Head Studs torqued at #80
Everything is straight.
My question was who is unsing the SCE Gaskets???
I wanted to know if anyone is satified or not. It would help on my decision.

Thanks again,

Joe

For proper sealing when using a copper gasket, both the head and block need receiver grooves for the lock wires. This is not easy and is expensive.

Another problem is sealing the water passages on both sides of the gasket. With hardblock and no water passing between block and heads, this could be averted [for a race-only situation].

Does not matter what kind of gasket you use on 8 bolt, iron heads, under high boost they will lift [deform].

Hi, I have the sce copper gaskets on my car now,had a minor coolant leak first install using hylomar.Used gasgacinch and silicone second time around.they are fine now.O-ringed block and annealed the gaskets SCE said I didn't have to.I also am in the Montreal area, should be at Napierville next week once tranny is fixed

I was reading up on the SCE Gaskets and it mentions to Wire the Head, not the block. They also include the S/S wire if requested.

Thanks Mike for the info.
I am leaning more on using the Stock gaskets with the Wire..

Joe

They work great, o ringed block and silicone, made it through B.G. in TSM all weekend, in the 10.20 range.

Griswald, Are you hooked up w/the Diabo's? Napierville is also my home track. Brian

Hey Brian.I work at the Diabo's garage Gran Sport Autobody.Duane did the headgaskets the same way he did his 455's seems to really work good.I kept blowing the stock gaskets so tried this set up.Should be at the track soon.

Joe,

I think Lonnie Diers has run them. I plan on running them on my stock block motor which is in work as we speak. The only real options I see for a stock block application are the copper gaskets, a Cometic gasket or steel shim gaskets. Keep in mind this is in a severe application. Anyone wanting to run high 10's or slower should be fine with stock type gaskets. Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions...

Neal

Thanks neal.
I will ask Lonnie since I have to speak with him anyways.
I am strongly thinking of trying them out with Lock Wire the Heads.

Joe

Well. I ordered them yesterday. I took the .072" thick.
I will O-Ring the Heads as soon a I get the Gaskets.
