I tried GNTTYPE and here and didn't have any luck so if someone could give us a little advice here it would be appreciated..

We have the car jacked way up on the passenger side and still can't get the downpipe off..if I could get the test pipe off the downpipe it would be no problem, but it's way too stuck on there.

Anyone have any advice? We've wrestled with this thing for a while now, just the stock DP with the Hooker test pipe on it, same as comes with their Aerochamber dual 2.5" exhaust..

I had the same problem when I went to remove the original cat 2 years ago. We had to jack it to the stratosphere to get the damn thing out. In the end, we still had to cut the converter pipe anyway.

rent or borrow an acetelyne torch and heat the test pipe til it's cherry red, then twist it off. not with your hands though! use a big pair of channel locks.

incredible...we sprayed it with wd40, let it soak for a little while, wacked it with a hammer maybe 3 times and the test pipe flew right off!!

This 3" THDP is awesome, gets in boost with less throttle and sounds insane!!!

glad to see that you got it off. i was going to reccomend nut buster, but i didn't know if you had that much patience. heat works alot faster! plus, it's fun sometimes. FIRE!FIRE!:D

When I took my cat off after I first bought the car, it took heat to persuade it. The other day, when I removed the test pipe/dump tube that had been on there since I removed the cat, it didn't want to come easily either!

So, after a 15 minute Kroil soaking and three whacks with a heavy hammer, it nearly fell off!

Kroil rocks as a penetrant!

For future reference, the easiest way to take it out when there is a cat or a test pipe is, jack it up on both ends fairly high. Then it will come out, been there done that before. What a pain those old downpipes can be.

1. Take it to a muffler shop with a lift, torches, etc.
2. Pay da man.
3. Do not go to the Emergency Room...
