I can not find the part number for the belt tensioner casting assembly in any of the lists or postings. Does anyone know what the part number is? I don't mean the pulley number but the number for the whole spring loaded assembly. Also, has anyone else had a problem with the casting breaking where the long bolt goes through? I have broken two of them. Thanks for any help.

not sure if this will help but I replaced my belt when i bought my car i tried the dayco belt and had problems with bouncing tensioner, I had what sounded like a bad bottom end knock at idle , tried old belt again and only a little better (it had a high idle when i got it so didnt notice till idle was fixed) , it seems like the dayco replacement belts dont have consistent tension thoughout the belts length and may be a bit longer than they should be
on a suggestion from this site I went and got a goodyear gatorback belt #4060635 from autozone.com , when it arrived i couldnt beleive the difference in feel ,its a high quality part , its a little shorter than what stock lists but it works great , no more knocking , tensoiner sits steady and quiet and it doesnt flop around like the dayco did , im sure if i'd kept running the cheaper belt my tensioner would have broke.

had a dayco belt on a supercharged grand prix.....it threw one of tensioner pulleys completely off its bearing...popped the hood, tensioner pulley was gone, the bolt with the tensioner pulley bearing was the only thing left, chew the belt up
the car now has a gatorback

As always, great info. I should have checked with the board instead of the dealer in the first place. I'll try GM Parts Direct and also make sure I don't have the wrong belt. Thanks again.

I can tell you one thing, the belt did not throw the pully off.
Miss alignment of the pulley or bearing failure is very common, and that in turn ruins the belt.
I have seen this many many times.
I have sold about 5000 belts in the past two years and seen 1 defective one  .

My initial post was about the casting assembly that the pulley goes on and not the pulley or the belt. The number that "Oneslobuick" posted was for the pulley. The casting assembly with the spring loaded tensioner is what I need the part number for or better still if someone has one they don't need, how much?

straight from my Buick 82-87 parts book 25526387 is the entire tensioner assembly , not just the pulley

the bracket that assembly bolts to that hold the generator and ps is 25525388

That has to be right then. I used that number at West Bay Auto Parts and they cross referenced to just the pulley and it wasn't even the right pulley so they probably just screwed up. I will try GM Parts Direct again and see if I can get the right one. Thanks again for all the help. It was all good info.

if you go to the site oneslobuick posted you'll find the part at the price he posted with a pic
the site is gmpartsdirect.com

You are all absolutely right as usual. I can't believe I didn't do a GMPartsDirect search on that number when "oneslobuick" posted it in the first place and the rest of you verified it. It's also good to know that Parts Zone has it as well. Sorry I made this tougher than it had to be. Thanks to all for the great help.
