I'm planning on going sub 10's and am buying an SFI rated flexplate next week new from PTE. It is a JWP internally balanced item for a little under $200.

Does anyone know of other vendors selling this part? Cost difference? I would like to support a paying advertising vendor of this board.

So I have a lightweight RX-7 with GN drivetrain. Engine is at the machine shop and will be a 109 stock block with 4 billet caps ( no clearance for an engine girdle... steering rack interference), JE's, stock GN crank, and stock rods with ARP's.

Is an SFI rated harmonic balancer (BHJ en route) and SFI flexplate all I will need enginewise to pass tech? Drag strip near me is very strict about going sub 10.50's without the right stuff.

I have a built TH200-4R and believe I need a transshield also. Isn't Bruce at Performance Transmission in NorCal the only one who offers one for the TH200-4R?

Car has 10pt cage/5 pt belts/driveshaft safety loop/master electrical cutoff switch going in also.

Do I need anything else? I don't plan on going faster than 150mph as I don't think it will safely/repeatedly do it anyway.

I hope to have the car ready in the next 2 months and run at TurboThunder in Oregon and the big West Coast Buick meet in Las Vegas also and being safety NHRA legal and go sub 10's. Guess I need to get my license also to go sub 10's right?

Thanks,

Mark, Nice project you got going there, your going to need the externally balanced wheel for a stock crank unless someone has added a ton of heavy metal to that crank and doubt it very much.
I have a internally balanced piece on my Stg11 motor, it's a very rugged piece, I think the price is pretty much fixed.

you do not need an SFI flexplate until 9.99....you do need a trans blanket or shield and SFI balancer

thanks guys. I guess an externally balanced flexplate is the call.

I plan to go sub 10's before the end of 2003 azgn.... figure it would be better to build my engine with one first when having everything balanced.
