OK so My floor shifter will go into all gears in order from reverse to 1, but wont go back. I have to use the colum shifter to go back. My floor shifter started to get a little harder to do, and then tonight just did what I am saying. The cable cant be broken I dont think, cause it will go back into 1. Any body have any ideas or have this happen to em.

Thanks,
Matt

Will handle go into park?sounds like your linkage is close to being right.Or linkage is binding somewhere.

Check cable and brackets. Both ends of cable still attached?Might try disconnecting and check for binding.

column shift

So my understanding is you have both floor and the column hooked up?
I changed mine also from column to floor but i found if both were hooked up it would do the same thing you are describing.
I found the cable would not support both the linkage and the weight and mechanisms for the rod to the column so i unhooked the rod and use the floor only--no more problems---i made my own linkage on the tranny as i used the seats and console from a 03 sunfire GT cables s and all

Cable is hooked up on both ends. The floor and colum were hooked up when I bought the car. Now I dont know if this matters but sometimes when I shift, the lights will flash and I will loose power to radio and scanmaster for a split second. I can move the loor shifter through all gears from P to 1, but will only pull back and not push forawd. I am pretty sure I have a bind somewere but not sure where. Tomorow I am ganna rip everything apart and see what I can find.

shifter

i would start by just removing the rod that goes into the bracket on the tranny and leave the cable intact and see if it works better---the bracket will have two slotted holes in it parallel to one another and a bracket on the frame with a rod that goes from the frame over to the bracket on the tranny--theres 2 bolts that hold the bracket on the frame--take them out and the rod will slide right out of the tranny bracket then try your floor shifter ---any questions pm me and i can send you pics of what i did if you want

Well took everything appart and fond the cable casing broke. Bought a new cable and is fine now. Thanks for the replies :)
