I am moving back from Germany to the US soon. I will be shipping my T next month. Since the car will be out of my possesion, I want to do everything possible to ensure it returns to me the same way I left it. If I simply disconnect the adjustable waste gate, the car will not be able to build boost, correct?

Rob

If you disconnect the rod from the puck arm you will have no boost.
Good luck bringing her back home ;)

You should actually wire the wategate arm all the way clockwise. Then the puck will be open 100%, and they will not be able to build boost (unless you have boost creep).

As described.
I bet it was special having/running a TR in Germany.

Thanks for serving and have a safe trip home!

Wire the puck OPEN for no boost and I would get a custom chip burned with a 2-3k rpm rev cut and slap in there I know it is 80 bucks but it is peace that they are not revving and pounding on it.
U will have it in case u ever get Pcs'd back overseas.
I am a vet and some of my buds would always slap a real low number rpm pill in their MSD box on there cars that were being shipped for PCS to OS.

Jack,

Boost creep? You've been talking to my wife or what? Thanks for the safety wire tip. I'll wire it shut and give it a try.

Turbo Nasty,

If I count right, I believe this is my ninth PCS (I am getting tired of moving!). I'll actually be shippig my car privately, via a container. I will be there when they put it in, and be there when it comes out of the sealed container, so it should not be too bad. That is a good tip on the rev-limiter though; I think I will talk to Eric (TT chips) about that.

Oh yea, no more PCSs for me. I am at 22 now, I have to do three more (promotion to E-9) and then I will retire. Although I do hope to move back to Holland, so maybe I could use the chip again!

Wastegate unhooked

The car will still build SOME boost--I would guess some where around 8-10 psi. Unhook and drive WOT to be sure.

NO!!! Wire it OPEN!! If you wire if shut it will over boost.you want the puck at the 9 0' clock position not 6 0' clock. :)

Im kinda confused about the clockwise description, if the wastegate rod is tightened (clockwise) the car will get every ounce of boost available.
If the wastegate rod is loosened (counterclockwise) you will get lower boost.

Pull the wastegate arm off the puck swing arm, install a small padlock in the wastegate arm ilet hole so they cant put it back on.
This will get your car to maybe 2 psi of boost

Shut, open, I knew what I meant even though I typed something else. Thanks for the catch though. I will wire it OPEN and give it a test run.

THANKS!!!

Why not just take the wastegate off completely? Two 1/2 inch bolts and you're done.

My face went  at the thought of a wastegate wired shut and a throttle happy porter behind the wheel! LOL! Hope all goes well.

Two Things....

Get a new valet chip made with anti-theft....That way you're covered both ways. :)

We moved 13 times in 27 years :)

Life is good after the Air Force!
