ok im using a borrowed stock MAF and my friend needs it back soon. i dont have a spare and instead of buying a GM MAF im thinking of getting a base translator and an LT1 MAF. my friend can burn chips/tune GNs really well so i really dont need all the extra bells n whistles that come with a T+. im strictly looking for reliability in a MAF, in fact, if there was a way to get a thing so you could just run the new MAF ONLY i would get it but there isnt so do ya'll think the base translator is a good idea for reliability/cost's sake? also if i get a reg. Translator and hook up an LT1 MAF can i switch over to an LS1 MAF later on w/o sending the Translator unit back to be reprogrammed?

thanks:cool:

all i have to say is YES get the translator and 3.5" ls1 maf sensor...i went through 4 stock rebuilt mafs before i got fed up and said i want to do this one time and get a maf that will LAST...boy what an improvement too

Yes you can upgrade to the larger one later on with both types of translators.

Translator Plus gives you timing adjustments and is kinda cool to make your own tuning easier if say you add alky. or something.

Buy once and buy smart.

Can't see buying two Chevy MAF's get the big one first off and it should last you many years.

PS: Used translators appear more often in the used parts section as many go translator plus for the timing control. ;)
Chip in the translator is important as to what version it is, old or new if buying a used one.

thanks for the advice guys. salvage, what are you talking about this chip in the translator version?

There is a big a$$ chip inside the translator that does the translating.

Older versions you buy used may have an older chipset.

TurboBob is in continuous improvement mode with this product.

If you buy a new one you will get the newest version of the chip in it.

Might have more to do with running the later extender chips which also undergo continuous upgrades of features.

Only threw the chip thing out there in case you buy a used one. Just something for you to consider.

The chip is marked under the cover on a white label.

Easy to see since that's also near the knobs where you make the adjustments.

I really like my T+, I thought about the straight Translator but a buddy of mine got the Translator then said he wished he would have got the plus. So, I went ahead and busted the piggy bank for the extra money. It's very handy to be able to adjust fuel delivery and timing spark! - T
