How can you tell if your MAF went out. On my 89 TTA it started stumbling bad when I was driving it and it died when I let off the gas to slow down to make a turn, I got it back home and started checking it out and unplugged the MAF sensor and the idle came up and it sounded normal, Plugged it back in and it stumbled bad and died at idle. Does this sound like the MAF just crapped out?The SES lite never came on until I unplugged the sensor. Ant input would help. Thanks, Jason

get the car running and whop the holy liveing **** out of it, one good puntch should do. if its bad the car will die.

It sure could be, they don't always throw a code. Might wanna try the tap test, then swap with a known good one if you have a turbo buddy close by. Good luck...Striker

MAF would be my first guess as well. If you do get an SES light, shut it down and pull a code as fast as possible, don't wanna wind up droppin' money on a MAF if that's not the problem.
good luck

I tried tapping on it while it was running and it had no effect. When It was running after I got over it's stumbling it would seem to run fine under accel. But when you let off and slowed down it would act up? I tried driving with the MAF disconnected and it started acting up again. No weather it's plugged or unplugged it stumbles and surges. Any ideas it could be other than the MAF, I's try to find one tomorrow to try and see if it fixes the problem. Thanks, Jason

MAF would be my first guess. Stalling when letting of the gas can also be a sign of a stuck or slow IAC, so check to see if its out of adjustment

Some MAF failures do the opposite. The car idles but dies under load, as airflow increases and is not counted by MAF.
