I was wondering what ate the signs of a misadjusted tv cable and how do I go about properly adjusting it ?

Put the cable in the "loosest" position, then get in your car and go full throttle, you should now drive around and see if it shifts as you'd like, if so you're done. You may have to do as described and then still come out a click or TWO to firm up shifts, anymore then that, you're probably looking at more issues. Good luck!

Of course I mean with the car off! ;-)

You must push the button on the tv cable and pull it towards the firewall and release the button. The cable will be really tight, then hit the gas pedal to the floor and it will click. Then its set.If the cable was misadjusted it would either shift soft and early if its to loose or hard and late if its to tight.

I slam my accelerator pedal to floor to attain factory setting. I then take one click out of the adjustment, in or toward firewall. It seems to shift better like that on mine. The only thing that concerns me on mine is that the metal "D" tap is silver and not a gold color. My car is a 86 ttype. The 87 we-4 I owned previous had a gold "D" tab on the cable.

Thanks challengermike, I think you might be right, I will try and verify that with more research.
