It seems like my car is idling rougher now but it probably has idled this way all the time. I just never paid real close attention or have spent that much time driving it. I noticed it has a slight miss which makes the car idle like it has a big cam in it (idle is around 725rpm with red's chip). When you have it in park and raise the rpm's to 1,000-2,000-3,000 or anywhere in between you can hear it miss every 1-2 seconds or so. The time interval between misses shortens as the rpm increases. The car runs good under acceleration with no hesitation and O2's are good during the run.
Any ideas on where I might look?
Should I change plugs, wires and coil pack first or look somewhere else?
Could this just be how the chip is setup? I have heard that RA chips are a little on the rich side and the miss reminds me of how my old carburated truck would behave with a little too much fuel.
I'm open to suggestions/comments.
Thanks, James.

I don't think Red does his chips rich enought to give you a problem. Maybe try a tune up on it and cleaning the fuel system and new filter. It can't hurt!

I have done the fuel filter and other replacement stuff along with everything in my sig in the past 6 months or so.
All readings on the Scanmaster shows everything to be good so I am looking for other opinions.

What could be the cause for a very rough idle and miss?

?????????

Here's some:
Bad ground
Low voltage. [Internally corroded + batt. cable.]

Weak coil pack. [Cracked tower, corroded tower, etc]
Module defective. Check these 2 items w/ a Caspers tester. DO NOT rely on a VOM to do it.

Plug wire leaking to ground.
Plug gaps too wide. [Try .032 if not already there.] NO platinum plugs, please.
Dirty injector
Inj harness near EGR is burned.
Dirty electronic connections.
Flat cam lobe.
Worn out rocker.

Do a warm compression check, and a leakdown.

Thanks for the advice.
Could any of these be ruled out since full throttle perfomance seems to be good, no hesitation or miss. It is very smooth while going WOT, although that could just be because the rpms are up and I probably wouldn't feel a slight miss under hard acceleration.
Could the IAC be a cause even though the readings are good?
Once again thanks for all help. I will be checking over the things you suggested.

Could also be missing teeth on the cam/crank gears causing it to jump timing. How many miles on the car?

Engine has about 60,000. I am actually about to replace the valve springs and timing chain/gear. I have all the peices just no time yet.
If I was missing teeth wouldn't it affect the full throttle performance aswell?

It shouldn't be as noticeable at higher RPM unless it were really bad (lots of teeth missing). Get some other opinions here, I'm not entirely sure. At 60K I wouldn't suspect timing chain unless you've been running it extremely hard and not changing the oil, things like that.

I think it is an outside chance but just something to keep in mind.
