It's tells the ecm how many cylinders the engine has, and set the RFD. RFD sets the fuel for the computer in an analog fashion, if the processor was to fail. RFD, Redundant Fuel Devise.

could it keep the pump from coming on? I know it is the computer, been checking things out for 2 days. Put another computer in and it works.
