Not liking the tinted headlight covers so im thinking of other ideas. I know someone somewhere sells either smoked or tinted headlights. I beleive they are black looking with the lights out and during the day but are normal once the lights are turned on. Any ideas?

they were called COLOR CLEAR by Philips Quit making them about 10 years ago.I saw a set on ebay sell for 145.00 about 5 years ago

Here is something I thought of, Since there are people taking there taillights to a body shop and having them tint them. Why not take the headlights too? This way you don't have those big covers over the openings with velcro and brackets! Just tint the whole light the correct way..

Just a thought..

Not 100% sure but I am thinking that is what DJ Red Barron has done. Tinted at body shop). Here is his member info, his car is in his sig. Might want to give him a PM and see what he did.

A little while ago, I "pm"ed "DJ Red Barron", asking him about the headlights on his car and he replied to me that he used some kind of film on them...but I don't remember where he got it...

Claude.

There's an aerosol spray called night shades that I bought years ago I think from atr however Eastwood may carry it.

they do make a aersol spray that will tint them the more coats you spary the darker it gets they have it in flat or you can get a clear coat for it they sell it at any parts store

I have tried the night shades tint, works great on plastic. Not so good on glass,on glass once it gets hot it starts to run off the glass and sag at the bottom.I did my 04 mazda 3 with night shades all the way around, taillights side markers headlights real light. At night plenty of light during the day looks blacked out.I did this on my wifes typhoon looked awesome till i drove along distance had the headlights on.Got to where i was going and headlghts were messed up.So plastic sticks fine no heat issue glass not so good.

I have a buddy that works at a body shop who is doing my headlights now for gn.He is using automotive clear and just adding black base till color is smoked but not to tinted. He has done this on a few cars and heat has not been a factory after. He also redid the typhoon but i don't have pics of it,and i don't have the Typhoon to take pics of it anymore. As far as lwa and cops ther is some hoops but most cops don't know them. They have to project light from so many feet when on etc.By using the clear or nightshade stuff they do but if to dark they wonty, due to layers are so thick.I have my mazda tinted for 3 years now never been pulled over for tinted anything ,and gn has headlight covers and marker covers no problem either .

here a pic of mazda tinted out..for referenceif look at side marker on fender that was a clear lense, and tails bummper lower and side had red i went dark on them.Headlights just enough to take chrome look away.Which i am going to pull off and go a lil darker yet...

If you search headlight cover under google there is a "film" thats tinted and it made to go on headlight covers. Wet, apply film, wet outside, squeegee, done. It can be removed and is approx $23.

I have a film on mine got it from walmart for like $5 it comes in a sheet static cling kinda deal for putting a temp sunshade up for kids jusst cut them to fit you can take tehm off at night and put them back on in the day time. works great and looks better then the headlight covers I did have.

I ran those in my Sonoma GT years ago. Wish they still made them. That light looks killer in person.

Since the lenses are glass, they can't be tinted the same way other lenses are. However, I used some vinyl from DECALFX.com! Custom Vinyl Graphics, Decals, Stickers, Logos, Lettering, Carbon Fiber Vinyl, Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles.
DECALFX.com! Smoked Headlight Film Tint Overlays Vinyl Decals Stickers Lens Protection for Head Lights, Fog Lights, Foglights, Tinted Smoke Windscreen, Lens Paint

It worked well especially since I have HIDs. Without them, I could see a lot of light being lost at night, though.

DJ thanks! Your car is beautiful!! Bob showed me the pics when you were up here in KC. Absoultely Stunning!!!

I have heard good things about the niteshade spray which u can find anywhere like prev said auto zone, napa, walmart, advanced auto you get the point..I was considering useing it my self here within next few days i can post a pic how they turn out..the only time my headlights are on are at the dragstrip and its not like mine personally see alot of heat for long periods....most of the time our local track is well lit and my headlights are off and parking lights are on,...as far as the glass and the heat goes you may want to call manufacture which I belive is duplicolor or VHT they should be able to give some advise as far as the heat from the headlights....I wonder if you could bake them like alot of the high temp paints?????any thoughts???or even the clear coat idea...but surely by calling the mfg they should be helpful with any concerns or ???'s

I would like to see someone make an HID kit that makes the headlight/turn signal/platic trim all in one piece that bolts up... possibly be more flush instead of tucked away. I think the plastic around the headlights is one of the worst looking aspects of these cars.

I doubt you will ever see that be made. I think you might be alone on that one, most owners love the classic 4 light look of the car. JMHO

I like the 4 lights as well but think it could be given an updated look... like a new glossier trim ring/built in turn signal with a solid clear cover not brackets/velcro is what I'm saying.
