78' Buick Regal (231 turbo) engine.

New spark plug wires -- been lagging really bad ever since.

They're connected correctly from distributor to spark plug -- checked many times...

Could someone maybe tell me the correct length of the plug wire? like...

cylinder 1 -- shortest
cylinder 2 - 3rd longest.

something like that?

i cant think of what else could have caused this... at any speed, you can completely stomp the gas but the engine doesnt rev at all. it just kind bogs down. and VERRYYYYY GRADUALLY starts to speed up. any ideas?

also when i let off of the gas after being high revved... it makes a loud popping sound. (like usually it kinda rumbles -- not it like pops, almost like backfiring.)

Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Also, please use layman's terms when describing a possible solution, I have a very slight grasp on engine work.

Laymans terms for the 4 cycle engine and firing order? If you dont understand what firing order is, then send your car to a mechanic. This is one of the most fundamental things about cars, and if you dont understand, you'll mess it all up. You obviously have the firing order all messed up. You should do a search on how the 4 cycle internal combustion engine works, so you understand intake, compression, combustion and exhaust. You pop the distributor cap off and rotate the engine, and watch what direction the rotor (under the cap) is spinning. When that rotor comes near one of the brass or aluminum tabs inside the distributor cap, the spark jumps across and then down the plug wire, and then to the spark plug. As the rotor spins around, the sparks have to hapen in the proper order. The cylinder on the drivers side front is #1. The front on the pass side is #2. The middle on the drivers side is #3. the one across is #4. Rear one on drivers side is #5, and opposing one is #6. When the engine is at top dead center on the compression stroke in the #1 cylinder (do a search on the internet for all this), the rotor under the distributor cap, needs to be aimed at the tab in the cap, which has the #1 cylinder plug wire connected to it. The next cylinder to fire as the engine turns will be.....(look up the buick 231 firing order)...and then the next cylinder to fire will be....

ha, i didn't mean i was thhhattt uneducated about engines. I know what each part does... and how it matters to the rest of the engine -- i meant with particular names :-\ like if someone says "U joint" i couldnt point at the u joint, but if they explain where it is, ill know what they are talking about.

I understand the firing order of my car. It was set up correctly. I had two plug wires that were close in length - i switched them. It runs properly now.
