For the Love of God no I told you so's:o !

I went to a Turbonetics 70 BB P trim turbo vs PTE t63.

Cottons 3"dual exh vs hooker dual 2 1/2 inch

Mease SS headers over the cracked stockers.

Has anyone else used these headers?

I have an AC 3500 nl converter and thought it would have been enough:confused:

I also the spool up of the BB 70 would have been similar to the 63? Silly me?

Also Mease Headers will not work with a block brace,(crossover pipe) hits the bottom back of the oil pan and lays VERY close starter. I had the muffler shop put a spool piece in it and heat and bend it slightly away from the starter. Wasn't a big deal.

Would a heat blanket on the turbine and header wrap on the headers help out some?

I don't want to have to go with a 4K converter on a otherwise very streetable car:( .

Thanks, and no I told you so's. You know who you are!:o

It has to be something else, can't be the stall conv. I've heard of people using 3200-3400 stalls on those turbos.

sounds like a fueling problem or leak ahead of the turbo....you need to be very lean on spoolup

if you are using the stock wastegate and trying to run low boost (say less than 18 lbs) that turbo will just blow the wastegate open with light tension on the rod....the answer is a Grainger valve ahead of the gate to hold it shut until a certain boost is reached

my Innovative double BB 70 spools maybe twice as fast as my '45A used to, and a 3500 stall is plenty

It's a stock style heavy duty wastegate that I bought new with the turbo from cottons.

I can't hear any exh leaks but I'm going to recheck everything.

Maybe the headers just make it THAT lazy?
I wouldn't think so. I it's barley 2 psi per second!:(

naw, check your fueling and crank down on the wastegate rod and see what happens

I dunno what you look at for tuning, but if it is 02's, mine are typically in the 300's when spooling (or 14.5 a/f )

gotta be a leak or ? particularly if you could spool the 63.....if nothing else changed, the BB should come up much quicker

do you have stock heads? that could be another issue

Actually, spool up should be much better with the BB 70. When you did the install, was the wastgate puck checked to verify the hole was PROPERLY covered?

This is the most common problem I have found when changing turbos. This is especially true if the exhaust housings are of a different brand.

F@*% I didn't check the Puck:D I did clean the surface of it a bit.

I found a couple of SMALL exh leaks that helped a tad.

I cranked down on the WG rod a bunch. It has a MUCH different "feel" to it that the old one did and just in the drive way it seemed to help alot!

Haven't had a chance to take it out on the road again because I'm on Vacation and that means I get to watch the baby.

Some vacation.

Thanks for the help.

Heads are P&P with stock valves(I beleive they are stock size)

Have to get the electricial cord fixed on the laptop. Mini Pincer chewed it in 2
