Any way to keep a stainless downpipe from turning color - other than not driving the car.
They look so cool when they're new.
Thanks

Yes swap it with the original anytime you are going to run the car. Then place it back on when you are at a show etc:D

Just glad I could be some help :)

Many thanks.
I should have thought of that myself.
(I can't attach one of those funny icon things, or I would have)
Now I'm looking for a new body to put on the GN at car shows so the dirty one won't take away from points. :)

Ceramic coating/polished stainless steel/unpolished stainless steel. Not a lot of choices. I like the looks of ceramic coating such as Jet Hot, even though it might discolor a tad. I like the looks of the polished ss after it turns a light goldenrod, and can be polished somewhat by hand while it is still on the car, enoughn that it doesn't look too bad. Ceramic coating seems to have a pretty high resistance to discoloring after use.

Remeber, once you start polishing, you have to do the whole pipe....and believe me....it sucks!!! Unless your content with a "patchy" look :)

I've have really good success (meaning very little effort...just time) into removing the bronze look. My autobody guy has this acid based product that you just rub around and it takes it off in a jiffy.

I've only used it once and I borrowed it, so I don't remember the name....I'll get back to you. However, I do remember him telling me you could get it at any autobody shop (paint store/supply)...something to do with metal prep...

You autobody guys know what I'm talking about???

Otherwise, I'll get back when I find out.

P.S. Mine is jet coated and still bronzes :(
