Yes, ask him if he had it in a car he drove or just picked it up at a yard though, so you will know what he is basing "tight" on, how it was in the car, or sitting on his bench.;) Wouldn't want to get it just to have to rebuild it.

I put one in my Cutlass (reg. Cutlass with the slow box) from an 89 IROC. I hear you should change the pitman arm but I didn't and had no problems. I also did the 12" brake/spindle upgrade.

I have read if you have a GN or F41 suspension you already have a fast ratio box, I'm not sure about this but I also hear that the IROC/GTA boxes are the quickest. Don't know which way to go on this.
Do a search and you will find what codes to look for also.
Keep in mind if this auction starts to get steep that these boxes are available at the local yards as these cars are fairly common there. It would probably run you about $35 at a u-pull-it type place and take about 15 min.

Yes, you can get them at any yard that has 80s camaros or firebirds. This guys wants a lot for who knows what. It's your money.

Strange, I see these boxes go for $50-75 on ebay and I went to the junk yard here in Jersey and found a Camaro with a tight box (or felt like it).

They wanted $75 if I pulled it and $100 if they did it. So $35 is about the value?

Anyone out there in Jersey know of a gool U-pull it?

Thanks,

I also put one on my GN, and I also heard you had to swap the pitman arm. It looked exactly the same as the original GN arm so I didn't swap it either. No problems with it. You will, however, notice that the turning circle will be bigger because the F-body box won't turn the wheels quite as far as the stock box. I understand GM did this because of the lack of clearance with the wide tires that F-bodies had. I'm not sure if the ratio is any quicker. It seems like the stock box was 2 1/2 turns lock to lock and the F-body box is 2 1/4 turns, but this could be due to difference in steering stops It did seem to feel firmer, though.

I pay $25 or $30 down here. I guess if the going price is more where you are, and you need one, you have to pay the freight.
