New hotwire, Walbro fuel Pump, new relays.......but I noticed that the connection on my fuel pump sender had a wire that was frayed and actually cut. Would this prohibit the fuel pump from kicking on? Also, what are the signs of a bad fuel pressure regulator? I have a new Accufab, thats about a year old but could it still be bad? Anyway to test this?
Thanks for all the help

check your fuse in the fuse block under dash mine blew and i didnt have fuel pressure and is your oil sending unit hooked up if its bad you will not get fuel pressure it is a safety thing where if your oil pressure gets too low it will trip relay so your car shuts down

Thanks Abbott.

Checked all fuses, fuses were good, The oil sending unit? Ihave heard about that, but have NO clue where that is.......
Thanks for the advice...
keep em coming

The oil pressure switch is at the front of the oil pump. It has two sets of contacts: one for the idiot light, the other bypasses the fuel pump relay(in case the relay fails). It doesn't trip the relay if you lose pressure. Info per GM service manual(not my opinion). Depending on what wire was cut/frayed: it most certainly could be your problem. Are you referring to the wires going into the tank? Is the pump running at all?

Hi,
Good questions. Our cars have redundant circuitry to power the fuel pump. That messed up wire at the tank (?) could be the problem. Also, don't forget the grounds. If hot and ground are good at the tank,it's pump time.Good luck with the completion of your project!

I sold you the fuel pump, so we know that the pump is working fine, it came out of my car.

I would make sure that the pump is working fine at the back half of the car.
Unplug all your hot wire stuff right at the tank, and add 12v+ to the brown with tan wire and use the other wire as the ground, not the pink wire, thats the sender wire!!!!
Just take a battery to the back of the car near the tank, pos to the tan with white wire, and ground NOT to the pink wire..... IF the pump comes on, then its the front half of the car..........

Once it works there, varify if you have a good ground on your new relay, and depending on how your car picks up signal to the hotwire kit, varify that the factory fuel pump relay is working fine on the pass fenderwell.

My green car just had a bad relay go bad next to the map sensor on the pass side, well, not the one next to the map sensor, but the fuel pump relay one relay over from the map sensor.
That relay gives a signal to the black terminal wire right behind the alternator, used to fire a hotwire kit sometimes.... depends on what hotwire kit you have.
