A good friend of mine bought a '87 GN with 30k miles on it. It's completly stock. Him and I know little about GN's.
There is a noise that sounds like a sheetmetal clanging when the car is at full throttle and at high boost. Was told this might be detonation. Is this a common problem with a stock GN? What else might it be? How do I check to verify it is detonation? More importantly how do you fix it? Any suggestions would be appriciated, Thanks

Hey glenn

1.buy a scan master(ram chargers,fullthrottle)
2.turn down boost
3.check chip (is it stock)
4.spring clean it (basically tune up gn style)
5.do some free mods (k@n,down pipe,exuast ect..)
6.GET GAUGES

start there and then get back to us
if that is detnation that you are hearing then id suggest tell your friend to park it before he blows it

stay off the throttle until you see what your car is doing

Johnny

good luck
