I have this axle from the car when I broke the other one at the starting line. I replaced both axles with Mosers. Is this stock axle trash or would anyone want it for free? It has seen 205,000 miles, a dozen dyno pulls, lots of 11, 12, 13 sec passes and one 10.9 pass. I'm thinking trash time since Mosers are cheap enough to pickup if you need an axle.

shoot is it posi if so let me know i live in brandon fl near tampa, i'll pick em up, the housing is still good didn't blow it up.

i think he means just 1 axle not the whole rear. are you going to bowling green? if so i take it if onefastcar pass's. thanks. Len

Well heck its yours brother i got enough car problems, i guess i don't need more and its probably weakened the thing with a 1.4 60 or somethin.

Can you weigh it for me??

I am curious.

Yeah it is just the one axle.

Sure, if I can find a scale. Maybe the one at the grocery store would work-haha. I bet it is about 15-20#'s.

Nope, not going to Bowling Green. I doubt the axle is worth it's weight in shipping cost.

Can you say ticking time-bomb? Axles fail because they twist over some number of aggressive launches. Using this "good" axle would be analogous to using a cracked crank or rod.

Obviously I wasn't going to run it in my car any longer. I'll just toss it in the trash on Friday.

Didn't think you were. I guess I was just trying to point out that it would be foolish for anyone else to as well. After all, you know first hand that a failed axle ain't pretty. Could get you killed, in fact.

101 uses for a stock axle that doesn't include using it in a car

Maybe I should have titled the thread 101 uses for a stock axle that doesn't include using it in a car:)

OK I'll try some uses:

1. Boat Anchor

2. Lawn Decor- possibly for vines to grow on by planting the flange of the axle underground...

3. Try to make the loudest sound possible when it is thrown in a dumpster

Yeah, if you really want to make a loud noise, tie it to a 40,000 lb electric fork lift and drop them both in there. That is LOUD ! :D

We just got my dad a MIG welder for his b-day. I think I might use it to do something unusual with my stock axles (just had Mosers put in, too). Mine are even more useless than yours because they're bent (wheels had a wobble to them that I could never figure out - problem now solved).

I think I'll weld the mailbox to the top of one of them. The wife will love it.

Maybe I'll use the other one for an improvement on the old rim-type hose reel. I can put lug studs in it, add a rim and some bearings and make a REAL hose reel.

I have a pair of stock lower control arms to play with too....hmmmm....

I say bolt it to an old wheel. Weld a plate on top and use it as a bench grinder stand.
