I am going with a stock style adjustable wastegate for now, which one should I get? Is there any real difference between the $84 Kirban model and the $129 ATR set up? Also, how easy is this to install and tune?

Thanks!

save yourself big $$$ and make yours adjustable, unless yours is bad why spend the $$$. I made mine with $1 in hardware and 1 hours time.

An (OEM style) actuator is an actuator is an actuator. I don't know why you'd want to pay more for one from Company B than Company A - they are all resellers anyway of standard Garrett stuff so far as I know.

They come stardard, heavy duty and ohmigod, going up in pressure range, as suits intended use.

Make sure you get the one that fits your turbo as the bracketry differs depending upon the particular turbo you're running. I always get my actuators with my turbos so I know they'll mount and perform as intended.

Start with light tension. One turn clockwise when viewing the end of the arm from the passenger's side equals about plus one PSI. If it's overly loose or tight something's amiss. When it gets very tight the one turn equals plus one PSI relationship goes out the window (one turn is more than plus one PSI), but then something's probably amiss. That's about it for tuning.

:)

If you're going to make your stock actuator adjustable, do yourself a favor...call PTE or John Craig, and get the female-threaded rod end. That way, you can use the proper 1/4"-28 thread on the rod, and not a coarse 1/4"-20, like most home-made ones use.

...and it'll look right... ;)
