Stock timing chain good for XXX HP???

How much HP/Torque can a stock T/C (and tensioner) hold?

My stock tensioner broke off at the 90 degree metal bracket-to-block. Sring was fine and rubber/plastic part were fine too. WHY WOULD THIS HAPPEN?! mad: )
