Can someone tell me what make and model turbo the 86 Grand National came with. I'm still trying to get my Dyno 2000 program to accurately plot a Turbo V-6 Buick engine. Thanks

Thanks, it figures, that isn't a turbo thats in the selection menu..:( (I could load it in as a custom turbo if I knew cfm flow, pressure ratio and efficency %).
They list Garrett turbos from T-45,T-51,TMF 55,T04B,TP30 and TV45. Anyone know if any of these are similar to a stock GN turbo?

When I was running my stock turbo, I used the compressor map for a TO4B S-2 compressor to determine my setup. I have been told that this is close to but not exactly the same as the stock compressor. My runs at different pressure ratios seem to validate that this compressor is close. You might want to talk to John Craig about this.

The following information was taken from the compressor map for an S-2 (all of these numbers are only approximate):

The center or island of the compressor map is at P2/P1 of 1.82 at a flow of @20.8 lbs/min @73% eff.

The surge line at this P2/P1 is @13.8 lbs/min.

The peak flow of @37.3 lbs/min is at a P2/P1 of 2.50 with a turbine speed of 120,400 rpm @60% eff.

Hope this helps, but you do need to talk to an expert. As a note, I was able to push the stock turbo to 12.34s 1/4 times using DR's. Many others with more experience have pushed the stock turbo into the low 12's and high 11's.

d0n_3d:

OK, my numbers are close at 37.3 lbs/min is equal to about 530 ACFM.

GSthunder:

However, you must remember that these numbers represent the compressor flow without any inlet or outlet restrictions which unfortunetly are cars have a lot of.

Your DYNO 2000 program will most likely not be able to duplicate turbo applications with the proper inlet and outlet restrictions. However, you might get close enough to test changes in cams, heads, etc relative to the stock baseline.

Thats exacly what I want to do,compare changes. I realize the computor won't duplicate "Real World" figures, but it is nice to try things to compare.
Thanks for all the help
:)
