Strange Noise-When Powering On/Off Air Climate Control

All,

Strange Noise starting to appear everytime I turn on the ECON Air Climate Control especially in ECON mode. It appears to be coming from Driver Side near the air vents.

It sounds like an air blower fan. Seems to go away after the Air Fan is on for a while but then noise appears again when I power off.

Anybody has had this problem and how were you able to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

What is the noise like?
Can it be a leaf or foam caught in the fan?

does the sound change with fan speed change, could possibly be the fan motor going.

The sound appears upon initial power on of the ECON/Auto Air. After ~10 seconds the noise goes away. Then upon Power Off and after ~2 seconds after the air is has stopped, the noise comes back and slows down in frequency. Then finally stopped. It sounds as if a fan is loose and only wobbles when speed is slow.

If it is the fan or fan motor, how hard is it to remove and replace.

Thanks,

It looks like the fan and motor are a breeze. ;)
Under the hood, directly in front of the passenger. A wire, a few screws, and BAM. (I think)

Out of grease

You can take the fan motor out and grease up the bearings. It will quiet down. I did mine and its smooth and quiet. The grease dries up over time so its just regular maintainance.
