This spring i have a couple of big money races between a 95 gt stang with a head and cam combo this guy is claiming 350 horse from his kit no stall no nitro he will have 373 gears and exhaust though his partner who want to race has a 2002 maxima 6 speed all boltons dot's on both vehicles both races are heads up on the street what kind of outcome can i expect.

I am running a 87 regal t with esp front mount 60 trim turbo 009's down pipe exhaust shift kit 2800 stall full suspension incl airbags dot hoosier's alky kit turbotweak chip.

Are you kidding me?

My car only barely gets walked by the best corvettes (most z06 C5, and basic C6) and IM a SLOW gn... Then again I dont have near the mods as you either...

Can you launch on the street??

Also ONLY go from a stop... if they say from a roll tell them to suck your:rolleyes:

What do you run in the 1/4?

? Kinda silly I mean have you ever had your car to the track? How much boost are you running? Day of the race get some race gas (C116) run 27# of boost with some traction you should have no problems.

a Maxima!?!? The 'stang will need nitrous just to make things interesting, but even if he had that...........It's not going be much of a race....What are you going to do with the winnings?

really? A guy wants to race you with his maxima!? LOL

Sounds like you're going to clean house on those guys if your cars running right. I wish I could find suckers like that!

Maxima could have 800hp and still wouldn't be all that fast due to being FWD. You should probably hit over 350 hp with your alky kit alone, that's before a new turbo and all.

I've seen many 11 and 12 sec cars...... that once they finally went to the track..... they were high 13 sec cars.....

If I were you I wouldn't talk any trash.... until you have some track time.

First street race with my current GN was against a juiced Mustang. He was a confirmed 12-sec car and the best he could do was hang at my back bumper. Never could drive around me...
That was before I even tried to tune mine... :D

You will find after awhile, these Turbo Buicks in very mild tune will inflict a fair share of punishment on the Mustang and Camaro guys...

Then again, at my local track, US41, I have witnessed a very stealthy looking 2001 Maxima knock out some high 11's on drag radials and was very quiet. I'm sure it was on the good ole blue bottle tho. Definitely make sure and look over both cars very carefully for hidden nitrous kits if you plan on running for some dough. All it would take on that Mustang would be a 225 shot, a good tune and some cheater slicks and he'd be a pretty tough customer on the street. You really need to get your car perfectly tuned for 20-25psi on the alky and practice launching / hooking the car the best you can before attempting this. Do yourself a favor and pick up the phone and call Jegs. Order a bottle of VHT traction compound, put it in the trunk with a pair of work gloves to wear when handling the bottle and or pouring it out. Always do a burn out in VHT and make sure to back into your tracks but not into the puddle of VHT. ;) Not that I condone street racing, but hey, it happens and I'm just as guilty of it back in the day as the next guy. I would always investigate thoroughly my opponent first, instead of letting the heat of the moment get the better of my judgement. And don't let your friends goad you into a street race. There's no need to race a car that you know is 1-1.5 seconds faster than you. Never race anyone that you suspect has been drinking. That will always lead to trouble. Sure anything can happen, but why? Most of the time, all it takes is a good John Force burn out by a Turbo Buick and most back down. Happened to me on more than one occasion with my old White Limited. Remember, there is always someone faster out there, it's best to take it too the track on street night.
Good luck and drive safe.

Not all Maxima's are slow. I haven't got my 04 to the track yet but I expect it to be a mid 14 second stock. Do yourself a favor and do this at the track. No sense in losing your license.

I couldn't agree with you more:)

Though on paper, it looks like you'd have em handled easily, that doesn't always translate to real-life all the time. If you are an experienced racer, and your car is in great tune, then forgive me for the following. If thats not the case, then my two recommendations would be to practice (a LOT) your launches, and secondly, find a place, or a strip, where you can make a bunch of WOT runs and get your combo all tuned and working together. I'm sure we've all seen cars (of all types) that have all the big pricey go-fast parts to run 10's, but because all they did was throw 'em on, they're languishing in the mid 13's. So make sure you got your tune right, practice your launches, and if those cars have only the mods you listed, you should OWN them. Again, didn't mean to talk down or anything, if your car is already dialed in, and you've been in a drag race or 2 :)

my times

I'm running almost the same setup as you except my tranny is stock and I have a rjc power plate and boost controaler and a stretch ic . you mentioned you have susp. upgrades I use metco lowers and a hr bar. With a street turbo tweak alky chip I got the car to run 11.40's last season. Most stangs will need lots of mods or the bottle to get to those times, i ran 26lbs boost with a mix or 94 octane and alky on a high mileage unopened engine , still have the stock chain and springs lol guess I know my next upgrades before I blow something up.. good luck like everyone is saying run it at the track and tune the sucker and you'll go fast...
