stripped the threads

well i was replacing the head gaskets on my car and every thing was going well. i was torquing the head down and all the sudden i heard a snap and the stud felt loose. i couldnt pull it straight out even though it spins in place. i tapped all the hole s 3 times. i never heard of this happening any how what the best way to fix?
helicoil, larger stud (if they make em) help!!

You could be lucky, that is if the head bolt just broke and not the threads pulled out. Was you using ARP bolts? If so, I wouldn't expect the bolt to snap but could be....
