The dimensions are right on, its two rows at an inch each and is only $180. Part number SUM-380331, GM aluminum rad.

It appears as if you have to go to an external oil and tranny cooler. Permal cool has a dual cooler 21x10.5x1.5 #PRM-3318 for $110. It has 6 tubes through the core, 4 for the tranny, and 2 for the oil. You could go with the 10 inch fan for $70 more, that should cool just as good if not better than the intank.

Any have this?
Hows it fit?
Any mods needed?
Cooling before and after?

Not sure why anyone would buy a GN vendors aluminum rad at $550 anymore if this works for $290 total with coolers.

Im pretty sure you can get a aluminum piece from a GN vendor for less then $550

TCI says on their website that it is better to run a big external cooler for the trans than to use the one in the radiator anyway.

CAS has an aluminum rad similar to the Summit for $550. Cheaper GN aluminum rads are not 2 rows of 1 inch cores.

Good deal on the external vs intank cooler. Makes sense as there is probably a 100 degree difference in ambient temp to coolant temp for the coolers.

I was just at my friends house last night checking out the desert trophy truck he s building. I asked him what he was doing for the cooling system and he pulls out a huge aluminum radiator. He says he got it for 175.00 at summit. This really looked like a high quality piece, I am definately going to check it out as I already run a big super cooler for the trans.

COOLING!

My radiator is busted.

I'm going to use my Griffin 2 Row 1" Core Rad. (which i already have)

Then use PermaCools' dual circuit cooler w/electric fan for the trans and oil

Should be just fine!

I have one of these in my Monte. Physically it will fit, but... be prepared to break out the 3 pound hammer for some slight tweaking of the lower rad support. In particular where the old rubber mounts go. Some sheet metal "tabs" stick up to hold the rubber. It's close at the bottom corners where the rad support curves down from the sides to meet the bottom. You have to smash the "tabs" down in order for the hood to shut. It's also thick. I ended up hacking the support at the top next to the latch to shift the rad forward ~1/2" to clear the water pump (prolly not a problem with the V-6). It's certainly NOT a drop in (the 31X19 is the core size, don't forget about the end tanks taking up space too). If you can get past that, they cool great for the money. Not had a problem with temps since I put it in. HTH's Chuck

1000mileStylez, the link you gave said they were only wholesalers.

Any pics Monte_383?

Best fan to use is the perma cool at summit # PRM-19114.
14" fan that pushes 2950 cfm for $84, sounds like a deal to me.

Griffin Rad

It will work but you have to do some minor mods. The first thing is to cut the ears and thin out the rubber bushing that support the radiator from underneath. Make them as thin as possible this will help sit the radiator like the stocker. The next thing is to mod the support plate that bolts down the radiator. You will have to cut some of it just enough so that you will be able to remove the radiator cap, since this radiator cap sits straight up instead of an angle the stocker. It will work and it is a nice piece for the $$.:)

I have it in my car, no major mods at all, just bend down the upper and lower flat sections of the rad. anyone need a pic?

the problem with the single 14" fan it will not pull enough, first ooff, if anyhting go with a 16 incher with a fan shroud. otherwise it will never pull enough air and you will over heat. yoru better off buying BeCool dual 11" 3100 cfm fans. or get the ramchargers one....

The becool dual 11" fans summit BCI-75007 pull only 2,780 and cost $279.95. These are 200 cfm less than the perma cool and almost $200 more. You could buy the summit aluminum rad for that difference in price.

Ramchargers fans are chysler fans at 2340 cfm, 610 cfm less than the single 14" perma cool fan.

I have yet to find a single fan more powerful around $85 than the 14" perma cool. Might even fit with the stock fan shroud.

stick with the ram chargers fan its the best value for the buck and it has a true cfm rating , not like the perma cool stuff and flexalite. Only fans that are true cfm rated are ramchargers fans, spal fans, and derale fans

Thanks
