Switch activated license plate fold-down.

I've always wanted to fab a switch that operates my license plate to fold down for 'fill-ups' or red-light cameras. Anyone familiar enough with linear actuators or stepper motors to fill me in on the better choice?

I guess I did not realize how pricy those dam things are. Not sure its worth that, especially as we tore down all the cameras in the state
