Switch over to alcohol?

OK, with gas prices what they are - what would it take to run on 100% methanol? I'm thinking more fuel pump, min. of 83# injectors, chip changes?

maybe 160 lb injectors and a really big pump and a really big tank for the alky? stuff doesn't generate much energy efficiently (but it knock proof!)

I believe it takes approx twice the amount of meth to produce the same power as gas. With the cooling of alky, however, you may be able to run without an intercooler.

The issue is making everything out of stuff that won't get eaten by the methanol.

Calibration wouldn't be that hard. The 2x upsize is a good rule.

If you needed 40 lb injectors on gas, figure 80lb on methanol. Beyond that, it shouldn't be too hard.

I believe Don Wang did his car on alcohol. Might give him a call and ask him how he did it all.

Why would you do that? You can get meth for what, $2.00 a gallon? And burn twice as much, so it would be damn near twice as expensive to run. If you ever saw what that stuff does to your oil you would never even think about it.
