i got some new GM t-top weatherstripping on the way and i was wondering what the BEST way to do the job was....

after looking through the archives i found that someone saying there's no such thing as too much glue...the more the better....then i read someone saying he used NO glue to let the seals flex or whatever and has had great results....

what is everyones opinion?

also is it true you should not install them in under 70 degrees?

If you have pulled your old ones out yet, you're going to find that there was a lot of glue used from the factory. I glued mine and also used some of the windshield black instalation stuff (Can't think of the correct name) around the top corners, to help seal the gaps. A warmer day will help soften up the rubbers and instalation will be easier.

I am interested in this too, since I have had my seals for a year and have found 12000 excuses to not do this. :D

Time to bite the bullet, now that the elbow is ported and new injectors are in:cool:

Mine were the opposite as far as adhesive...not much at all...I don't see why anyone would install the weatherstripping without adhesive especially if you drive in the rain...plus driving down the freeway with the tops off what would hold it in place?...it doesn't fit that tight into the channels...here's a writeup I did:

The adhesive does nothing to seal, water shouldn't be getting to the adhesive area in the first place...My weather strip fits VERY snug in the channels. If yours were loose maybe your channels got bent out of shape.

I'm not against using adhesive, I would just use it where it is needed (not everywhere just because) I've had no leaks or slips yet. In the future I might have to use some here and there though.

Just another TR guy opinion

Can any of you guys tell me how the T-roof metal trim pieces are held in? Are the pop riveted and glued or just pop riveted or just glued?

They are held in by screws and this Godforsaken double sided sticky foam stuff....take the screws out and slowly work them up. Go to fast or hard and they bend. I lightly pried on them and sliced the foam away. Cleaned it all up after they were off.
