Ta-49 1/4?

What should a good running TA-49 run in the 1/4 with proper injectors,Stall, and fuel pump, with traction not being the issue?

11s, depending on tune it can be from low to high.

With a stock converter, big neck intercooler and 36# bluetops my best ET was 11.53 @ 118 mph with a race weight of 3570 lbs or so.

It's pretty easy to get a TA49 into the 11's. Don't use too much converter or you will run out of RPM on the big end.

With 26" tires my car WOULD NOT go over 114 mph, even with the converter locked up. When I switched to 28" tall tires, it busted right into the 11's and ran 116 mph in the same tune that had only netted 113.5 mph with 26" tires.

Hey UNGN let me ask you this, what would you expect from a TA49 with stock injectors, stall and street tires with a big neck intercooler? Would the stock stall kill the performance with the bigger turbo, out of the hole that is?

A TA49 with stock injectors will run low 12's at around 20 psi of boost. Any quicker than this and you will run out of fuel and likely blow it up.

I run a Stock D5 converter and have no problems spooling a TA49.

If a car is set up too rich or has preturbo exhaust leaks (cracked header, warped flanges, hole in crossover) even a stock turbo won't spool.

I always ran Thrasher Chips.

The mid 11 runs were a T108 for Bluetops W/TCC lockup and no stutter. Fuel pressure was 46 psi, boost was 23 psi.

Stock Turbo, stock injectors I ran very low 12's with a T108 and a 1/8 miles equivalent to a low 12 (7.7's) with a T100. Boost was around 19-20 psi and FP was 45 psi.

This is cool........I got a TA-49......looking at my sig. what do you guys think my car would possibly run in the quarter mile? With street tires(stock sized copper cobras) and passenger air bag.(that is all I got for traction)This would be on race gas mixed with some pump gas. 18# - 20# of boost at least the first time I go. Maybe turn her up later when I get the hang of it. Would be my first time to the track also. I am going to try for mid 12's with my combo.........and tuned as good as possible. Hope I run into a fellow TRer at the track.
