Anybody tryed both? Major differences? I'm looking into new headers and thought I'd ask for talks expert opinion

Whats your goal?

If you are just wanting stock to mild builds I would just go with the stock replacement. You will have a gain in performance with those since the drivers side header is a superior to stock design anyways.

With that said the factory headers have got the job done into the tens.

IMO if you dont have a alky kit and want a fast street car and really need headers or replacements then get the stock style replacements and then get use the left over money for a alky kit.

If your factory headers are weldable then just get them fixed , really no need to swap them just to "put headers on". Money would be more wisely spent elsewhere. not sure your exact situation tho

What ever you do do NOT get the EBAy headers!!!

Good luck

Yea I was just gonna weld the stock ones bit theyre in such bad shape I dont think they would last a week

Just a word of caution on the TA stock replacement headers. The #5 tube is bent out and forward in such a way that it may interfere with the steering rag joint. I think they were bent that way to facilitate the use of the stock crossover(?). I have maybe a millimeter clearance on mine. Motor mounts might make a difference but it is still very tight.

Do you use stock motor mounts

Yes, but to be honest, anything that raises the motor even slightly will make the problem worse. You'll have no such clearance issues with the performance TA's.

I've heard mixed things about them though anyone had a problem with the turbo spooling slower? My builds not gonna be outragous shootjng for about 475-500 hp

I have the TA perf versions on mine and zero issues with spool.

Now Hooker headers , then oh yeah BIG issue with spool

I have TA /performance headers an could only run 10.97 with a stock longblock :(

I have nothing to compare them to... My spool is slow, but the converter is also not right for my combo, so I'm sure that's most of the problem right there.

A few sets were released that were close, but this has been fixed.

Dave, please contact TA or your vendor if you need to have a replacement for the DS header. :)

Just make sure they are hot when you weld them. When they cool back down, they may recrack. Heat them up again, reweld, recool and check for cracks. When they finally cool and don't recrack, they will hold.
