Yeah I have the factory D-5 that was supposedlt restalled to 2800 but I doubt that is true. You think a 2800 or 3000 PTC 9.5 would wake up my motor just cruising around town.Don't get me wrong the D-5 converter works great when powerbraking it from a stop and Building Boost. It rockets from a dead stop. The thing is Im hardly ever in Boost driving around town or on the highway unless Im at full throttle. Is the PTC 3000 9.5 overkill on the streets or do any of you guy's run with this converter with a TA-49 or TE-44 Turbo?? What about the Vigilante converter's??

A true 2800 stall lockup 10.5 will definately wake up the car. Will put it right in boost under load and drive close to a stocker with little load.I f you want to go over what we have available send me a pm.

I love my 10" PTC lock up. Works well with the 6152.........just another option

I thought PTC only made Non L/U 9 converter's?? Do they make that 10" converter and would a 3000 L/U be overkill on the street??

No Dusty can set you up with a 10" in a L/U or a non lock. I think the 3000 would be a little to loose. I had a 3200 at first and it was way to loose up top. I bet a 2400 would be $$$$ with a TE44.

converter

i run a 2800 l/u dusty on my 44 and its in boost immediately just ran a 11.4 with it.

Is that the 10' or 9 2800 convereter??Yeah the 2800 L/U seems to be the sweet dpot for a TE-44.Some guy's have 3000 or even 3200 converter's for there 44 Turbo but I think for the street that would create great traction problems.

Did you see a big difference with the cam?? I have a 212/212 I am going to throw in sometime next week. Just curious??

Yeah thats one mistake I made when I got my Racing Head's installed on the engine. The shop that did it,did a great job but they should have talked me into a Cam and a new Timing Chain. That was about 12-15 years ago and I think everybody still liked the stock cam because it could still get the car in the 10's.I never again want to go to big a Cam(69 Camaro BB 402 Engine 595/595 lift cam SOLD:biggrin:) but I have never been in a Buick with a aftermarket cam.My car just doesn't pull that hard from 80 mph to 120.Im not qualified to do just a Cam change job because I don't have a place to work on it.My next upgrade will be the converter. You think the 2800 10' that you got is a bit too much with my stock cam:confused: My car is a little lazy in 1st gear but it may be due to my 009 Injectors and a non Turbo Tweak chip.

I'll tell you I see more guy's running mid 11's and in your case 11.4 which is awesome, then I see guy's going with much bigger Turbo's usually going 11.8's but rarely do i see them going 11.5.I know its all in the tuner but it really makes one wonder why even think about getting rid of the 44 Turbo unless the car is going to be raced alot. Some guy's think the 44 and 49 are the best street Turbo's.The only other Turbo that alot of guy's think is a great street Turbo is the 61 Turbo.

Well you can still go ten's with the stock cam. Plenty have done it before and plenty will do it after. I want to give it a shot, I think it will certainly help. The 2800 will spool that thing like mad. I like tweak chip alot. The 009's will take you 11's no problem, and probably 10's with alky. I wouldn't fix what ain't broke. Do the chip and converter and see where your at first. The 44/49 and 60/61's have all been excellent turbos, but with todays ball bearing offerings WHEW that might be a toughy. 3 locals all with the same 6152 have gone between 10.90-11.30.............I frshened up the tranny so I hope that helps too! ;)

I pm'd you Dusty's phone #

I'll order 1 up in a few weeks from you.How is the street manners with the 2800 10' N/L affect the car?? I know they are better and alot of fun from what I heard.

I ran the TE-44E with an old orange crush 3000 stall LU converter and 36 lb injectors for years. my best was an 11.08 122MPH. The tune is most important.

Thanks,
Mike

Hell yes...........that's what I'm talking about! What kind of Boost and timing were you on?? Very interested in learning more.

You don't see 11.08's much with the TE-44 Turbo but when its maxed out it can get in the high 10's.Any nitrous used off the line with that run?? I hate to not Max out the Turbo and go out and buy another Turbo only to see no difference because it was all in the tune.

I was running a Joe Lubrant chip that he had tweaked several times for me. I am not at home right now so I can't look at the chip for timing. The 11.08 was with 22-23 lbs boost. I also had an 11.12 and 11.14 that day at Norwalk.

Thanks,
Mike
