The ignition module provides a digital signal to the tach, and I believe it is the white wire that carries it.There is a green tach test connector, one wire, on the driver's side harness, also white.This is from memory, but that's the gist of it.Keep in mind that the wire has to travel through the bulkhead connector, so there is some possibility that could be an issue. The sure way to check it would be to remove the instrument cluster and test at the connector.You need a dvom with duty cycle capability, like any Fluke meter.A graphing multimeter is also good.From experience, I would say the tach is bad.CYA, though, do the test.
