ticking at WOT

I rarely get on my car because i dont have a scanmaster or knock guage yet, but the other night i gave it one WOT run from a light and when the boost hit 17lbs, i heard a ticking sounds, and that when i let off it. i know my car ticks like a freakin sweing machine normally because fo my header leak, but this was different, could it be the header leak just louder because of the WOT??? in case it matters, my fuel system is stock and i always run 93 oct with a JL chip. any ideaS???

sounds like spark knock to me, i wouldnt get on it anymore till you got a scan tool

Looks like you have a to-do list.

At LEAST

1. Scan tool
2. Fuel pump - stock pump is NOT up to the task
3. Header leak
4. Full tune up - these cars are getting old, hoses crack and leak and cause all kinds of trouble.

What exactly is spark knock? is it the same as engine knock?

also, i have one of those scantools that plugs into the aldl and ive always notice that the spark adv is around 35-37. is this the same as timing? because i know the chip is burnt for 20* timing...

spark knock is detonation, which is the knock caused by a lean condition or low octane condition. Try to find on the scan tool knock retard or something similar and it should tell you how many degrees of timing is being pulled. Most cars are different, some you can hear the knock at as little as 2-3* and then theres mine where I have never heard it but have seen 8-12*. Bottom line is that all knock is bad, but if you can hear it, its really bad and needs to be fixed ASAP
