tire size hurts car?

If i went from my stock tire size of 65 and lowered to a 60 series will this affect the rear or trans engine etc.?I know it will affect the rpm reading because of the change .Thanks in advance for the advise.

won't cause any problems. Only problem you may have is a harder time hooking, but who can hook on street tires anyway?

That's a little small. Speedo will read 3 - 4% fast.

A tire diameter change does not affect the tachometer, which measures ENGINE RPM.

The OEM tire diameter is 26.1". For several reasons, I like to see a tire no smaller than that on the rear.

Smaller rear tires have the affect of lower gears (i.e. higher NUMERICAL gear ratio).

Ok the tach will be effected due to a higher or lower rpm at a certain speed according to height of tire changed.

Even if the speedo is recal'd

There is a formula for this though I don't have in front of me... someone might chime in with it

235-60 equates to the stock tire size just a little wider.
My combo
245-60 on back 8" rim
215-65 front 7" rim

I always liked a 28" tire on the rear. Seems to work well with these cars.

A 245/50 15 would be too short for a TR in the 1/4 mile so it really wouldn't matter how hard they hooked as you'd have to shift into OD at 100-105 mph.

245/60's will hook pretty good.
