Tomka cold air users: tricks to get plastic adapter to turbo to fit?

Hey folks,

I've run a tomka cold air setup for a few years now, but recently rebuilt my old TE-60 to TE-62 specs. I have a new compressor housing and the plastic adapter that allows the flexible intake tubing to attach to the turbo will no longer fit over the little lip on the housing.

I had to sand the adapter to fit the TE-60 when I got the kit, but I'm having to remove a good bit more material this time and am worried about not getting a good seal when I'm through(hard to get a perfect circular grind by hand). Does anyone have any good tips on getting this adapter to fit?

I'd considered using RTV to make up for any sealing problems, but don't want to end up sucking this into the turbo down the road.

I'm not sure how to do it, but you should be able to give Pete a call at (303) 279-7103. He is a really nice guy with a sweet GNX that he races once or twice a year (I saw him snap his driveshaft in two a couple of years ago).

I had the opposite problem. Pete's adapters were loose on my turbos.

I bought my kits pretty early on. Pete subsequently came out with higher temperature adapters (different material - the original ones were "melting" on some applications) and some custom diameter adapters as well (the original ones were fabricated from off-the-shelf pipe - dimensionally, you got what you got).

I second what the previous writer wrote. Phone Pete. He may be aware of your "problem" generically, and have a custom adapter for you.

I had new adapters made up at work - government job. They fit like a glove. We also put a slight "nose" on the previously sharp ends to prevent them from deforming. I took my turbos in and had the compressor covers mic'd. I love government jobs!!!

By the way, if the adapter is too tight it will crack. I know.
