i have an 86 t stock engine i have a 307 pump 36lb inj test pipe cat back exhaust[hooker?] got a pt51 turbo from a friend should i use this or trade for a smaller one engine rebuilt 5k and trans also bought a scanmaster but it didnt come yet any help thanks also i plan on getting this thing as fast as possible without taking valve covers off got a bet with a couple of friends on how these cars can go

are you asking if the turbo is too large for the stock D5 CONVERTOR?

well, kinda.. but not really...

ive personally seen worse!! trya TE45a with a D5, now that is a DOG!!

if your car has alot of miles on it, then your convertor will probably stall to around 2800 in a FINE tune...

with that in mind, its still too low for the 51... but if your up to snuff on every exhaust leak, got the right chip burned, new 02 sensor and good plugs,. and possibly a transbrake, then you got yourself a good street mobile-

just make sure you got enough injector to support the turbo

HTH

That size turbo will work fine with your setup if you have a higher than normal stall converter. Prolly going to go fast :D

thanks qwk6 the car is stock except for exhaust i have the fuel pump injectors and regulator i got the turbo but i want to do it all at once and only once as far as a transbrake i really dont want one [my race car has one] ... i just want to try and make a fun daily driver maybe get into the 11s or low 12s but it also will be my transportation only a couple of miles each day it also has stock converter i just got car its a t with bench seat and column need paint but it was cheap
thank you

thanks scott231 i do not have a chip will need one also send me info it does have a stock converter but i will get a 3000

try the D5 and the 51-
some cars will stall enough for the turbo, some wont- just depends on the state of tune and miles on the convertor-

you say your racecar has a t-brake-... i guess its not a turbo buick?
there is a manual transbrake out there for less than 200.00 which will get the boost up a tad quicker and you dont have to swap the convertor-

just depends on what you want
