Pat's 10" Lockup Torque Converter

10" Lockup Converter 3200-3400 Stall

Can this converter live being locked up at WOT?

Or should I go with the multi disk Precision unit?

Thanks,
Jason

I just purchased a 10" stall (loose 3k is waht I asked for) and it is installed on my replacement trans sitting on th garage floor.
If DHL would stop damaging and then not delivering the replacemnet set of TA Headers I ordered 3 weeks ago on time I could get the GN back on the street and put the trans in and see how the convertor does!

I asked Steve at Pats the exact same question about power level and he said that the clutch is a metallic carbon and can handle 600 + hp locked.

Maybe call him up and ask him.

I plan on leaving it unlocked (unless i need a little in a grudge race) as my trans that replacing the stocker is not built to the hilt.

...i have a pat's ten inch non lock up and its going against a jw internal balance flexplate...a bit off topic but neither of those parts came with torque converter bolts...my stock ones arent long enough...so where did you guys get your bolts and what size etc???...seems to be at least a half an inch space btw. the converter corners and the flexplate bolt holes any ideas???...thanks noah.

I'm converter shopping at the moment.

Jason if you can afford the extra dough get the Precision converter. I know of at least 3 cars personally that run them with no problems. Are there cheaper ones that might suffice??? Im sure there are! I have a Precision Multi Disk LU. Wouldnt look back....well worth the money.
You have all that money tied up in the motor and trans, not to mention youre own labor, why skimp on a converter?;)

I was lookin at the Pats 10" it is $500. It says will handle 600hp locked up....but for how long is what I need to know. I want to at least keep a converter in for a couple years. Have you locked your converter at WOT? if so how does it act?

I got my Vigilante from Kip. You can look to spend twice that for the Precision. The one I had in my car the last time you saw it was out of Lee Thompson's car. I beleive that one is several yrs old, and still going strong. Mike Schwab had used it in his GN running low 11's to Mid 10's. It was a 3600 6-Pump Multi Disk LU. Mine is a 3000 Multi Disk LU. No issues when Locking it. Pop the switch and it immediately locks.

That's a bit far fetched IMHO. I can't see any single disc converter handling that kind of power locked up; not for very long anyway.

I've been beating on my vigilante now for more than 8 years, and it's still performing perfectly and still locks rock solid at WOT.
0.3% slippage at WOT locked.

I got the Pats 10" 3400 LU converter.

Installed it last night and played around with it today.

This replaced a badly burnt up Vig single disk.

The car pulls very very hard. At only 10lbs it felt awesome.

This has been my problem all along. Car was going 13s and 14s with bad converter.

Dude....this car is a definate wheel stander now.

My stomach was in the trunk on a 5lb foot brake launch.

I can't wait to hook it at the track.

With the parts you got, that car should fly. Is winter over yet:p

I have no idea what it will run in the 1/4 but I've never felt the car pull so hard.

The rear is all stock. No suspension upgrades. When It hits about 8-10lbs the rear is moving side to side. and the front end is leaning up feels like the suspension is maxed out in the back.

I have had a few brands & now on my 2nd Pats. The 3000 10" LU was great after 2 years & about 10 track days. Just ordered a 3800 & have no concerns. Steve stands behind his work! Just talk to him on the phone & ask any questiones you like. I have found him to very honest with me. Now for an all out race cars with 150-200 passes a season I would probably go another route but 20-25 passes a year & I'm happy with the product.

I've run Pats for over 150 runs with no problems. I just had a tranny rebuilt by Brian Hofer , so while the tranny was out I sent my converter back to Steve @ Pats & he freshened & loosened it up & replaced the clutches, said they were showing wear. Charged me 175. Gotta love em!
