Having a terrible time launching....will ask for help with that later...but tuning results are the question here.

Running T+/Extreme setup....left fuel pressure set at 45 psi (line off) and 26 psi boost on all runs.

Set fuel pressure to +4%(rich) and WOT timing to +8 degrees (base chip is 17/19)...run a 117MPH with peak EGT at 1447. Change ONLY fuel from +4% to -2% and run 119.9 MPH and peak EGT DROPS to 1331???

Am I thinking backwards...I thought less fuel drives EGT's up...but mine went down???

Had to get out of throttle at launch on boths runs due to wheel spinning.

Appreciate info.

If you turn your fuel pressure down (or lean the mixture) and the EGT's follow, then it means that you were running excessively rich to begin with. The excess gas (i was told), is burning in the up pipe, and will cause a higher EGT reading. BTDT. :)

Keep leaning out the mix until the EGT's come up to your own sweet spot. :)

I think you are running too much timing in the motor. 27 degrees is in my opinion high. I would set it to a total of 23 and leave it.

The EGTs may fall back in line as well. You can safely run 1700 or so on 116 or the equivalent ONLY ( no pump gas or alky combos) so you are right, you have plenty of room to go.

If you are spinning coming off of the launch try lowering the pressure in the tires to compensate. 10 psi is about the lowest I would go.

From what you are describing you are making power on the low end of the fuel map but you are rich on the top end. See if the timing helps first before you subtract fuel.

Hope that helps

Why do you think 27º is too much? Most every race chip on the market is @ 26º-27º, not all but most.

Me personally I would rather get the fuel map right first and then add timing.
That way I dont blow up a head gasket trying to tune it. Once the fuel map is right and I am sure of it, I have no problem running 26 degrees with race gas.

With the EGT gauge you have, can you see where the temps are at a given rpm? That is a major help.

Who makes those?
