train horns...do I need'em?

I just ordered some train horns for my 4x4 dually. I pull a camper so I need them right?:biggrin: My wife says its gonna be overkill but surley when I am pulling such a big fifth wheel I need a loud horn. At least thats the story I told her.

Has anyone heard these train horns in person? Are they as loud as those demo videos show them to be?

yes they are loud, very loud. there is a semi truck show up here in michigan and a lot of the trucks there have them. after dark they have a parade with all of there lighst on the trucks and they come down the road blowing those train horns. my ears were ringing for hours after that. but it was great.

Are they illegal turbosam? I guess I'm gonna have to stop "testing" Razors alky kit on the street because his instructions clearly say for off-road or closed track only. Thats illegal for sure... Darn it!

Seriously, I know know they are frowned upon by law enforcement but I really do want them for when those idiots pull out in front of me on those back country roads when I have my camper in tow. And maybe a few blasts on some unsuspecting sucker that cuts me off in traffic..

my friend has them,it would be neat to scare the shibitz out of someone...remember if they pull out in front of you and you blow the horn,if anyone wrecks because of the sound your at fault,man slaughter if they die....but they are fun...its like when i got a ticket for blackouts,they said they were illegal i took it to court because the law was your tail/brake lights must be vissible from 1000 ft,i had people sign a petition,brought 2 witnesses,the judge made me wait till the end of all the other casses and came down to see for himself,he made me drive some distanced and brake,he claimed they were hard to see,my wife claimed she could see them,needless to say the judge told me i could keep them on, if i want to,but if someone rearends me and states they couldnt see my brake lights,i would be at fault,if they rear end me and die, well that could be man slaughter too?

We have a set on an F350, and its funto cruise Wal Mart in it (Lifted 10" on 20"and 40"s) as all the rednck kids swoop up to sweat it, HOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNKKKK! They almost have a heart attack. Also going by places where they eat outside, like a hooters, cruise by and as you just pass by...HHHHOOOOOONNNNNNNKKK!
People come unglued, a few I think actually pi$$ themselves.

Its all fun and games till you cause an accident, thats all I'm saying.

This is coming from an admitted street racer whose car is not even close to legal and advocates the use of the gas pedal as a steering device. But I don't bother other people with my nonsense, because I couldn't sleep knowing I hurt an innocent person.

If you want people to notice you just get a loud exhaust or paint "I suck ****" on the side of the truck. Because either way when you drive by, people will have the same response as the horns. They will shake their heads and say "jackass".
