well, the cooler you can keep the trans the better. as you probably know, these trannys are big bucks to have rebuilt.:D

If you're running a 10" high stall converter I would say you're need for a supplemental cooler is critical! My suggestion is a stacked plate cooler through Racerpartswholesale.com. - BB

I picked up a plate style from a local parts shop, took all of about an hour to install.
 
You should run one with ANY increase in stall. It's just cheap insurance!
I've always ordered the large B&M units from Summit or Jeg's. They've worked just fine for me on three different TR's.
Easy to install for the most part, mounted in front of the condensor.
