I am going back to the good ole' Translator set up and this time instead of the box just laying in the engine bay I decided to make a nice little bracket/mount for it where it would be easy to access and still out of the way of everything.. If you are interested in this bracket, post up and if there is enough interest I will see about making these... Let me know what you guy's think!

To give everyone an idea of what this bracket will be like finished, It will be powder coated a high gloss black and will come with all the hardware to mount the bracket to the car and the translator to the bracket.

hello: I also might be interested but I don't want it shiney as I don't shine that much. I'd prefer a satin finish as most of the aged parts look like. I'll need one soon as most of the mounting I've seen is just the translater stuck on a part of the engine bay. How is the unit held in place to your mount? Maybe a custom fitted hold down along with the mount would also be nice.

mine is semi stealth.........

Mine is mounted inside, behind glovebox. Have to drop glove box to get to it.

hello: there's a Canadian on this site that did the same. Did you make the wire extention or did you buy it? At first I didn't like the idea but now I do.

For those few who don't want a gloss finish, Powder coat can be painted over to any color you wish. It would just be costly to take one piece to the powder coating company to have just one bracket done. Now if your willing to pay those costs we will be more than happy to get it done for you but the part would have to be "Pre-Paid" before doing so.

The Translator's can also be mounted on our "Glove Box Bracket" if you wish to hide certain stuff.. The translator plus and regular translators can also be mounted to our NEW "Line-Loc" brackets so we offer several mounting options for several items that you may have..

hello: IMO I'd see what finish the majority wants and if your going thru with the project then that's what you get.

Could you leave some of them raw metal finished.

Yes! ;)

jlat- This is my experience after doing this for years, You can't please everyone and therefore people are going to want them all different ways (You for example are the Only one wanting it satin black) and by the time were done running around having them made up all those ways it ends up not being cost effective in the end. You see, as a business Any powder coating company will give you a discount if you have a bunch of stuff done the same color at one time vs firing up the oven to do brackets several different colors Then the cost goes UP!! If anyone wants any brackets we sell BARE, that can be done very easily and at a cheaper price..

So, so far the poll is:

Gloss black- 2
Satin/flat -1
Bare metal- 1

jlat........

I had to make my own extension for it. I wrapped the wires in the engine bay with the plastic wire condiut wrap and it looks stock. I used to have in the engine bay. But the first time I had to go get it smogged after converting, I figured it might cause an issue.
Put it behind the glove box and haven't touched it since. Plus one less electronics item to worry about under the hood.
Just what I did.
HTH
Thanks
Lorenzo

Mine is behind the glovebox as well. I didn't have to make an extension, you don't really have to run the wires into the passenger compartment and then back out - I hooked the wiring up at the ecm instead. It wasn't that hard. Do a search on "samurai translator" and it ought to give you the info needed to do the same.

i'm one of those weird people that likes to hide stuff like that as much as possible.. let people guess what you've done to the car... i think soemone would have a real winner on their hands if they'd make a display for a Scanmaster that fits in a regular gauge pod..
