Can I deliver newspapers and write off a Range Rover,seriously....
What types of jobs can you write off a Vehical,I understand that,Realtors,Salemen,,but can a pizza delivery guy ,or newpaper delivery guy write off something like a Range Rover....

thanks for any info..

you can write off whatever percentage of business use you can justify (10,000 total miles for the year, 5,000 business miles = 50% write off)....it matters not what your business is.....a lot of folks that bought new Hummers are gonna get a surprise when IRS comes around asking questions....

thanks for your info,,I thought it was a write off based on weight,,say 9000 lbs ,,then a $9000 write off...,,I read that a few yrs ago,,has it changed..
I did a google search and it brought up some info ,,,"Auto tax write off"

You can only write off what is used directly in business (as was stated) - furthermore, commuting to and from work is NOT deductible. Just went through this with the subie.

Also, there was something the accountant touched on with my 100% deductible (the 3 beetles used by the maids) vehicles. He stated that only the first $18,000 of the purchase price of a vehicle is deductible fully. Then it is a percentage for value over $18,000. That's how they keep people from doing the hummer thing....

tax

Write off the vehicle---sell it later and you may owe taxes on the selling price or a percentage of the selling price!!!! Nothings free!!! The IRS have people staying up at night thinking of way to get all they can.

actually, you need an accountant that is current on the rules....if a vehicle weighs 6000 lbs GVW, you (can) get 100% Sec 179 writeoff up to $100,000....VW's need not apply, but they are eligible for an extra 30% first year depreciation:)
