this is crazyness! do plane tickets usually cost 500+ a piece round trip?!! I havn't been on vacation for a LONG time, and I'm tryin to plan one for me and my girl to go down to Florida for a week. I want to take her to disney world and universal studios, but everywhere I look, I'm about to spend like 2k or 3k on just the tickets, and the hotel! Am I just ignorant? Or is this ridiculous? Do you guys know of any package deals available? Any tips for me? It seems a little sick that I can't spend a thousand bucks and set up plane tickets, and hotel accomodations for 6 nights.

Orlando. I figured we could lounge for a couple of days, then go to disney world 2 days, universal 1 day, then lounge all the rest of the days. It is not gonna be chilly at this time of year is it? I saw average temp for dec. in orlando is like 75

i think its a little cooler then that, i live about 250 miles south of there, i think they are usually more in the 50/60 range. dont know exactly. what part of december are you shooting to go there? i am going to be there around the 12th for about 5 days, dont know the exact dates though, lol i'm not the one planning it

I live about 10 min away from universal studios .... there are cheaper hotels, send me your number with a time to call via email and I'll call you tomarrow with some info.....I also have a couple of free tickits to seaworld I'll give you and your girl to help you out.

Jesse

do what me and the wife did

throw the luggage in the car and drive :)

there are plenty of places to stay down there no real need to do anything ahead of time

get in a room in old town which isnt but 10 minutes outside of disney and you will have everything you may need right around you

they have lots of shops and dining places right there along with a swing from hell and a chair that launches you to the stars and back

dont know if they do it all year but either friday or sat night they have a old car cruize in / car show

we went down this past April and Im planning a return trip this coming April

oh yeah and if your into partying club style downtown disney has plenty to keep you entertained along with interactive stuff where you can design a roller coaster then get in this simulater and ride what you designed ... caution its just like real so dont make too many loops you will get sick ;)

Just an idea, but how about coming out to California instead? Maybe the tickets will be cheaper? We've got Disneyland and Universal Studios. It's rumored that our weather isn't half bad either. ;) Just a possible idea for you. :)

If you are trying to travel inside the 21 day reserve window then the price doubles at least. Tickets to Orlando are usually the cheapest of any fare in the country, they shouldn't cost you more than a couple hundred bucks. Try the same tickets in January rather than December and I bet you see the price drop dramatically.

I only have a small window that both me and my girl can get away from work to go! was plannin on goin between dec.28th. and jan.3rd. It may not be too bad of a drive from where you are at mr. newport news,:D but from good ole cleveland, it takes 22 hours:eek:   I sure as hell don't want to spend 2 days out of a seven day vacation in the damn car. LOL:D

My wife and I just went to Orlando in June and there isn't too much you can do about Disney ticket prices but we got Universal studios 5 day passes for $89.95 each
(http://themeparks.universalstudios.com/orlando/website/chase_card.html)
Looks like the deal is still there
We also got round trip from Detroit to Orlando $122.00ea on Priceline(our layover was in Cincinnati OH, mayby you could get the same route and just get on in OH?), 6 nights at the radison twin towers walking distance to Universal for $35.00 per night at hotwire and a Jeep grand Cherokee for $165 for the week on one of the other deal sites.
If you look around on all the net deal sites (hotwire, priceline, hotels.com etc) I'm sure you can cut similar deals.
Good luck, Orlando is a blast :D

i'M SURE YOU GOT THAT DEAL BECAUSE YOU WENT IN JUNE, BUT I'LL CHECK IT OUT THANX

You could run into chilly weather at that time of the year. December and January are most likely to have cold snaps. Orlando ain't Miami. Sorry but you'd be better off coming in February. ;)

Been there three times, twice in June (too hot), once in march during bike week and pretty much got the same deals every time. The other two times we flew spirit air out of Detroit, first time it was 99.00 round trip second time it was 139.00 round trip.
You just gotta look for deals.
Every time we went we booked way in advance but I've heard good last minute deals can be had as well.

P.S. the $89.00 5 day tickets to Universal are only available online. if you buy them at the gate its only 2 or 3 days for 89.00

Here is a website my wife used to look up disney deals
http://www.mousesavers.com/
and here is one about how to get the best deal on priceline.com
http://www.bidontravel.com/
I used priceline to get the 122.00 Delta fare and hotwire.com for the 35.00 hotel and $165.00 Jeep.
The hotel you get on hotwire is only a 4 person room but when I got to the hotel I asked the girl at check in if I could upgrade to a 5 person room (we had our 3 kids) and she upgraded me to a 6 person suite for free. (lots of ass kissing involved here YMMV)
