Tune Up, Now Not Starting

Just tuned up my 83 t-type today....plugs, wires, cap & rotor. Tried to fire it up and it just cranks. Put the old cap & rotor back in and the same result...the only thing I can think of is the ignition coil. I verified that the firing order is correct. Any ideas? Thanks!

Did you put back the metal "strap" that was under the coil? Thats the primary neg term. Did you possibly plug the batt pos into the tach hole? Did you forget the ignition rotor? On the 3 wire plug, did you force it and bend the little tabs in the cap so as to not make a connection?

I checked all of those, the metal strap is in place...the batt cable is in the proper place...and the 3 prong wire is in, no bent connections.

I suppose it has the GM HEI setup?

How about that little button thingy that goes in the center of the cap?

I am sure it is in there.

Just put the new ignition coil in and it fired right up...thanks for the info!
